Builder Bryan Baeumler convinces his wife Sarah to uproot their growing family and head to the country where he plans to build their dream home. Bryan begins renovation on the new house while his family – including their newborn daughter – live there.
Bryan is forced to leave town, and the timing couldn't be worse as Mother Baeumler is left to battle with Mother Nature on her own. Then, Bryan returns home to a damp disaster.
As winter looms, Bryan makes major repairs to the existing part of the house and disrupts the sleeping arrangements for the entire family. Then, Sarah and Bryan's arguments get heated as they butt heads over design features in the great room and kitchen.
