Scottish actor Martin Compston has spent the past decade living part-time in Las Vegas, but despite his wife being a local and their son growing up there, he has never fully considered the city home. In this three-part journey, Martin sets out to explore the place beyond its famous casinos, bright lights and glamorous nightlife. Guided by local residents, he meets the people who shape the city and discovers its iconic landmarks, local communities, traditions and vibrant entertainment scene. Martin Compston begins with a visit to a $25,000 hotel suite with its own basketball court and then joins the water maintenance crew at the famous Bellagio fountains. He watches as a British couple tie the knot at the Little White Wedding Chapel and then it's off to gamble a small fortune at the Palms Hotel casino.
The actor visits Vegas's burgeoning Arts District with local chef James Trees, who reveals how the area has been transformed into a cultural hub. Martin and his wife Tianna head out of the city to visit Sandy Valley Ranch and embrace the cowboy lifestyle. Martin reunites with a pal from back home in Scotland, drag artist Lawrence Chaney. And there's an enlightening and emotional journey to the Grand Canyon guided by Sonia of the Hualapai Native American tribe, exploring the history and spiritual significance of the land.
Martin explores the many sides of the Vegas entertainment scene - including sport, theatre and food. Later he shares tales of the city's golden era with Wayne Newton.
