Jane takes on the seemingly simple pro bono case of a woman accused of thievery, but social worker Arif reveals the truth behind the charges.
The case of a missing 8-year-old leads Arif and Jane to a seaside camp, where the lost girl's father hides the reality of their situation from his kids.
When a teenager appears with a strange request, Jane dismisses him and works on the case at hand. Arif remains suspicious of Jane's character.
Jane is offered a job at a prestigious private sector firm - but she would have to cut her pro bono fellowship short to accept it.
Amid pressure from her father to accept the job offer, Jane works with Arif to protect the beneficiary of a will from the powerful family contesting it.
Arif relies on his professional contacts to fulfill Mr. Lim's request. The Tan family accuses Jane of misconduct, jeopardizing her career.
Deeply distrustful of the authorities after being turned away by Jane, Lucas and his brother Ollie make an escape - and fall in with a mysterious group.
As Lucas and Ollie's case wraps up, Jane makes a final decision between returning to the private sector and dedicating herself to pro bono work.
